CCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional
Description
The CCNP is a certification that demonstrates that the owner has a Professional knowledge and skills to install and maintain Cisco networks.
It is maintained by Cisco Systems Inc.
Discussion
The CCNP is a certification that covers managing routers and switches as well as configuring and troubleshooting local and wide area networks.
Cisco offers a series of courses for preparing for this certification. These courses are:
- Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI) v3.0
- Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks (BCMSN) v3.0
- Implementing Secure Converged Wide Area Networks (ISCW) v1.0
- Optimizing Converged Cisco Networks (ONT) v1.0
Certification Criteria:
To be considered certified, the following criteria must be satisfied:
- The candidate must sign a confidentiality legal agreement;
- The candidate must pass three or four exams (depending on the route the individual takes) that include building scalable networks, building multilayer switched networks and implementing and optimizing converged LANS and WANs.
This certification must be renewed every three years. This includes an exam to prove current knowledge.
